Webinar: Running Node-RED on Red Hat OpenShift (18th May, 2020)
On May 18th, 2020, UAE Developer Advocates Faiz Hasan & Mridul Bhandari conducted a webinar on Running Node-RED on OpenShift and demonstrated how to build a COVID-19 Dashboard using The Weather Channel API.
There were a total of 11 attendees including developers and students across MEA. The webinar started with a welcome note introducing the audience to Tech@Home series and was divided into two primary sections, one of the sections briefing the audience about Node-RED and OpenShift
The first part was led by Faiz Hasan. Faiz started it off by introducing Node-RED and OpenShift. He started the hands-on by showing the attendees the IBM Cloud Platform and how people can instantiate various services on it, followed by how to deploy RedHat OpenShift Cluster and how to run Node-Red on OpenShift.
The second section of the webinar was conducted by Mridul Bhandari, which was towards deploying the COVID-19 Dashboard, he started by showing people how to deploy Node-RED locally. He helped the attendees by laying out the steps involved in downloading the TWC node and importing JSON, and showed the participants how to deploy flow. He then demonstrated the first example of COVID-19 Dashboard for 60 days forecast country, state & county wise where the output was generated in Debug. This was followed by the second example where a Dashboard was generated with a graph and table visualizing the data for individual states and the consolidated data for all states in the United States
At the end of the webinar, the attendees were introduced to Call for Code 2020 initiative and more IBM Developer resources. Many of the attendees showed positive feedback and appreciation for the webinar and also showing interest in participating in Call for Code.
